Flávio Silva é professor adjunto 2 do departamento de engenharia civil da PUC-Rio. O Prof Flávio Silva é engenheiro Civil formado pela PUC-Rio em 2001 e com mestrado e doutorado pela PUC-Rio e COPPE/UFRJ (2004 e 2009). Sua pesquisa de doutorado foi desenvolvida em conjunto com a Arizona State University (EUA), onde investigou o comportamento mecânico e durabilidade de materiais compósitos cimentícios. Antes de ingressar na PUC-Rio ele foi Pesquisador/Professor Colaborador na COPPE/UFRJ e Pesquisador Pós-Doc na TU Dresden (Alemanha). Suas linhas de atuação em pesquisa e desenvolvimento técnico-científico encontram-se inseridas na área de estruturas e materiais com ênfase em materiais cimentícios avançados. Em sua linha de pesquisa o Prof. Flávio Silva tem como objetivo o estudo experimental e numérico nas diversas escalas dos materiais cimentícios, procurando entender e correlacionar as propriedades nas escalas nano, micro e macro.

Nessa linha de pesquisa são abordados estudos sobre:

  • Comportamento mecânico de concretos têxteis e concretos fibrosos;
  • Durabilidade e micromecânica de compósitos reforçados com fibras naturais;
  • Desenvolvimento de novos sistemas Geopoliméricos;
  • Efeito da ação de altas temperaturas nas propriedades químicas e mecânicas de concretos refratários;
  • Estudo da reologia de sistemas cimentícios;
  • Estudo da durabilidade e das deformações lentas dos concretos;
  • Estudo de pastas de cimento para indústria do petróleo
